During this time of year, you’re more likely to get stressed, eat more, and sleep less. This combination can easily lead to weight gain.
Sleep, exercise, & healthy eating are all vital ways to manage stress. This week we will be sharing healthy recipes, our studio workouts, and tips on ways to reduce stress.
Here are three things we recommend to stay stress-free this week:
- Take a breather. – Spend 15 minutes alone without distractions. You’re busy and we understand how quickly family and work responsibilities can build up but do yourself a favor and schedule time for yourself. Prioritize this alone time on your calendar and make it a vital part of each day. We recommend spending this time reading, listening to calming music, or meditating. If you prefer to rest your eyes during this time, go right ahead! Just steer clear of your mobile phone and all social media platforms- these things tend to not let your mind rest.
- Stick with your healthy habits. – Overindulgence only will add to your stress level and we all know how easy it is to mindlessly eat those holiday treats. Check out our latest blog on “Tips for avoiding the Festive 15” if you missed it but to sum it up: be sure to drink plenty of water and limit the sugary cocktails, have a snack before attending a holiday party and continue with regular physical activity.
- Plan ahead. – This may be the biggest tip because you can incorporate the first two into this one. Planning and listing your “to-dos” can help reduce stress, eliminate the chance of forgetting what needs to be done and it can also help you stay on track with your health goals. Set up your schedule to do your shopping, cooking and self-care time which will help prevent last minute scrambling to get everything done.
Don’t let the holidays become dreadful. Take the steps to prevent stress that can descend during the holidays. Learn to recognize your holiday triggers so you can combat them. With a little planning and some positive thinking, you can find peace and happiness during the holidays.
