With August starting tomorrow we thought it would be a good time to reflect on the health and wellness progress that you’ve made so far this year. This is goal setting challenge will help you evaluate where you are at and help you reach your health and fitness goals. Over the past few years I have found such great support and encouragement through our HCF fit fam. We want to take this opportunity to not only vocalize our appreciation but also challenge you all to find your “why” while experiencing the support of our community.
August is a busy time, many of you have kids going back to school and it’s not always easy to put yourself first but prioritizing your needs will be good for your whole family. (They say put your oxygen mask on before helping others, right?). Before the new month we want you to take a few moments to reflect and write down some of the goals you would like to commit to. We know life is busy but even if you only come up with one small goal it will help in the success of your wellness journey. Today we encourage you to take 5-15 minutes to sit down and write out your goals for this upcoming month.
To begin write down the answers for the following questions:
- What’s one health or fitness thing you want to accomplish this month?
- Do you feel prepared to tackle your goal (s)? If not, what’s one thing you can do to help you get ready?
- What obstacles do you anticipate and how do you plan to tackle them?
After you get this down on paper we want to encourage you to talk to your family, coworkers or boot camp classmates about your goals. This way you have support everywhere you turn. (And you’ll be less likely to make excuses if everyone around you knows what you are trying to accomplish).
We know that some of these challenges can be intimidating and you may feel like you don’t have time but this can be a nice break for you and shouldn’t take too much time out of your day. Not all goals need to be about your fitness routine. Sleep is a very important aspect of your health. Some other ideas include committing to 2 or 3 classes this week, eliminating pop from your diet. We have been pushing for you to add more movement to your day. One of my goals will be to do 5 minutes of stretches each day so regardless if I get a workout in I’ll be utilizing my muscles. The goal here is to find consistency in your fitness routine and as much as you can in your home life. Remove chaos by prioritizing what is importation to you. Share this with a friend so you can crush this challenge together.
