The holidays can be a time where people forget their health and fitness goals and quickly pack on the weight they have been fighting to keep off all year. We wanted to provide a few tips to help reduce the chance of overindulging over the next few weeks!
- Be mindful of your meals: Plan your meals and especially don’t skip snacks or meals to “save” the calories for a holiday event. Over the next couple of weeks there will likely be holiday parties and extra treats at the office. By keeping to a healthy meal schedule, you will avoid overindulging from being hungry. Try to eat before going to events that way you won’t overindulge when all the goodies are served. Remember store bought cookies and treats can be found all year round; save the treats for something special.
- Make time for exercise: The holidays can be a stressful and busy time, don’t forget to fit exercise into your schedule. If you can’t make it to class find time to get your body moving. Try doing one of our home workouts even if you are only able to squeeze in 20 minutes.
- Limit the holiday drinks: Egg Nog, White Russians, Holiday Punch all contain an insane amount of sugar, calories and no nutritional value. If you are attending a number of parties be mindful of what you are drinking. Opt to have one of your favorite holiday cocktails then switch to vodka and soda water or something with less sugar and don’t forget to drink water before and after your night out!
There is a lot to look forward to for the next few weeks and if you fall off the wagon one day just remember to be mindful and get right back up. The holidays can be enjoyable without ruining all your progress! Enjoy time with friend and family and have a safe and happy holiday season!
